Consecration 2007
Thursday, February 15th, 2007
To assist you in pursuing consecration this year, we’re providing the following guidelines concerning consecration in general, daily fasting, and the Daniel fast. You can download and print each of the following three documents or bookmark this page as a quick reference.
Consecration Guidance (download)
In order to maximize your results from our Consecration, please consider the following:
- Write (record) your important prayers and answers with dates in a prayer journal. Of course, if you do not have a journal (used to record your journey) you should purchase one.
- Drink plenty of water. It will keep you hydrated so you won’t be as tired as you could potentially be while going without food.
- Avoid television programs, music, movies, videos, or anything else which Satan can use to hinder your access into God’s presence during this period. Satan will bring back to your memory a picture or a song at strategic times in order to hinder your time in God’s presence. Don’t be your own worse enemy in this regard!
- Consecration means to set apart for God’s use! Try to give up something in addition to food such as magazines, television, hanging out, etc. I’m not saying any of these things are wrong! Like Daniel (Daniel 9:2, 3) we’re showing God we’re serious about our need for Him to do the unusual. There’s a price to be paid for any kind of breakthrough.
- Try to read at least one chapter in the Bible per day. For example: Proverbs would cover the month of March. You may also try reading both the books of Matthew and Luke which would cover the entire consecration period.
- Ask God to speak to you. Ask God to show you His ways. Use this season to receive specific guidance from God. Use this time to learn to hear His voice.
- Pray regularly for one to three unsaved (non-Christian) individuals. Target them in your prayers for salvation. Make plans to invite them to our Easter Service on April 8th.
- ATTITUDE! Attitude! Attitude! Maintain an attitude of praise and thanksgiving toward God during this time. Keep a proper atmosphere around you. Try to avoid conflict!
- If you are not tithing (giving ten percent – 10% of your income to God), you need to (See: Malachi Chapter 3). Tithing tells God that you trust Him to meet your needs as opposed to your pay check. If you attend P.T. regularly, this is where you should give your finances. Again, you want to put yourself in a position where God can bless (favor) you.
- After the consecration is completed, think about what permanent changes you need to make in your life in order to maintain the wonderful victories you will receive. You want to stay at your newly discovered level of breakthrough. Don’t go back!
- OBEY! Obey! Obey! Obedience to God is better than any sacrifice you can make to or for God (1 Samuel 15:22 – 23). Whatever you know God is telling you to do through answered prayer, sermons, your personal Bible Study, good friends, circumstances, etc., just do it!
- You may want to choose an accountability partner (friend) to help encourage and help to keep you committed to whatever God tells you to do once the consecration is completed.
