Project MOVE

Preparing young people to think critically and act responsibly to improve their lives and communities.

Project MOVE provides a 1-year sequence of  enrichment program for eighth graders, to prepare participants for college and beyond.  Participants who complete each semester will be rewarded with deposits to their 529 college funds and gift certificates for their personal use—totaling over $1,000During the Summer 1, after the 7th grade, participants learn the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and develop personal mission statements. For the next year, participants gain the experiences, knowledge, and skills needed to revise and carry out their mission statements. During the Summer 2 session, after the 8th grade, the participants attend MOVE in the morning and their Mayor’s Program job placements in the afternoon.Requirements:

  • Students should be enrolled as a current 7th graders
  • Students should be committed for the entire program (from Summer after 7th grade through Summer after 9th grade)
